Aitken, Ilott to take part in IndyCar test at Sebring

Jack Aitken and Callum Ilott will both be in action at the upcoming IndyCar test at Sebring International Raceway.

RACER.comhave confirmed Juncos Hollinger Racing will use December 6 around Sebring’s short course to test with their nowfull-time driver Ilott, while for Aitken it will be his first experience of IndyCar when he takes to the track with Ed Carpenter Racing.

Ilott, a member of theFerrariDriver Academy and current test/reserve driver for their Formula 1 team, as well as Alfa Romeo reserve, made his IndyCar debut in 2021, contesting three rounds for the Juncos Hollinger Racing outfit.

He went on to secure a deal to race with the team full time from 2022.

Aitken, meanwhile, who has one Formula 1 start under his belt forWilliamsat the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, will mark his return to racing in the IndyCar test, driving the ECR car, following aGT racing crash in August in which he suffered a broken collarbone and compression fracture.

The British-Korean driver has also been earmarked to drive in FP1 for Williams at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix four days after his Sebring test.

Also taking part in the Sebring testing day will be Meyer Shank Racing and Arrow McLaren SP, the latter now majority-owned by McLaren Racing following a recent deal.

Mercedes Formula E drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries will have the honour of taking to the Sebring track, with ex-McLaren F1 driver Vandoorne representing Arrow McLaren SP, while De Vries is to represent Meyer Shank Racing.

De Vries was linked with a move to Formula 1 for the 2022 campaign when openings emerged at Williams and Alfa Romeo.

Ultimately Williams chose Alex Albon to partner Nicholas Latifi for 2022, while Alfa Romeo’s all-new line-up will consist of Valtteri Bottas and武圣周.
