Leclerc: No qualy changes since post-Baku

The first Ferrari driver since Michael Schumacher to take four consecutive pole positions,Charles Leclercsays he hasn’t changed his approach to qualifying, at least not since after Baku.

Leclerc has dominated Saturday afternoons since F1’s summer break.

The Monégasque driver claimed pole position in Belgium and followed that up with P1s in qualifying in Italy, Singapore and again in Russia.

A race later, Japan, he was second quickest in qualy.

Leclerc, though, says he orFerrariare not doing anything different, at least not since he changed his approach to qualifying following his Baku crash back in April.

Leclerc was the favourite to take pole position that Saturday only to bin his Ferrari by pushing too hard in Q2.

“I changed quite a big thing nine or 10 races ago,” he toldRaceFans. “But since the summer break, not so much, not something I can remember.

“I just take confidence that the team is getting better and better, we are working in the same direction and I think at the moment it’s paying so it’s good to see that.

“[It was] just the approach to the qualifying especially after Baku.

“After I crashed in Q2 I was very, very disappointed and I changed a few things to just have a better build-up until the last Q3 lap and I think that has helped me a lot.”
