Robin Raikkonen, son of F1 World Champion Kimi, has entered the world of karting.

Kimi Raikkonen’s son Robin has been making waves in his first year of karting, with the F1 World Champion setting up an official page for the new racing driver.

Now retired from Formula 1 and happily living his best life at home with his wife Minttu and their growing family, Kimi Raikkonen has quietly shared images and videos of his young son Robin’s first forays into racing over the past two years.

Raikkonen has always made it clear that he wouldn’t force any of his children to try following in his footsteps as a racing driver, but young Robin has clearly shown a keen interest in the world of motorsport as Kimi and Minttu shared videos of him climbing into a kart and even leading the 2007 F1 World Champion on track!

Last year, the Raikkonens confirmed that Robin would enter a more serious competition in karting, with the now eight-year-old signing up to race with prominent Italian karting team CRG KART – a team with whom the likes of Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen raced in their early days.

He’s shown some precocious talent so far, with the young racer clocking up a podium straight away in the Rotax Micro category this year, racing against drivers 3-4 years older than him. Raikkonen has been a consistent frontrunner throughout the five rounds so far, taking multiple podiums as well as his first race win back in May.

Now, Kimi Raikkonen has made it easier for fans to keep an eye on his son’s progress through the ranks –an official Instagram page has been set upto help promote their son, racing with the number #91, as he finds his feet in racing.

Raikkonen shared the page on his own Instagram, labelling it as ‘Official’ with ‘Robin Ace Mattias Raikkonen’ now active on the platform, and already sharing pictures. The account was set up almost five years ago, meaning the family clearly had their suspicions that the then-toddler might be interested…

目前,账户将由他的父母吻mi and Minttu. Along with his parents, Kimi’s former Alfa Romeo teammate Antonio Giovinazzi, who grew close to Raikkonen senior in their years together, has followed Robin’s new account.

We, for one, can’t wait to see how he gets along against Fernando Alonso in around 12 years’ time…!
