Perez fuming over Magnussen block

Sergio Perez has berated Haas' Kevin Magnussen for ruining his qualifying session at the United States Grand Prix after blocking him off in Q1.

Magnussen, who was bottom of the qualification standings, impeded the Force India driver in the very early stages at Turn 13.

The Dane was on a cool-down lap and claims that his team did not tell him Perez was on a hot lap behind him.

Magnussen has since apologised and is fully expecting a grid penalty for Sunday's race, but Perez once again vented his frustration back in the paddock as he could only salvage P10.

“It’s extremely disappointing. I had the pace to be at the very last P8 today,” Perez said.

“我的资格是compromised massively by Magnussen when he blocked me in Q1. I had to use an extra set of tyres, which meant I went into Q3 with a single set. So that hurt me a lot.”

“He obviously didn’t do it on purpose but quite often it’s him, or Haas, getting it wrong. I think it’s something that they have to improve on."

Perez's team-mate Esteban Ocon, who qualified P7, also feels he left plenty out there on the track in qualifying.

The Frenchman said: “I can’t wait for tomorrow. I want to recover this as much as possible because I know that where I put the car today is not where it belongs.”
