Vettel: Aston Martin will benefit from Krack’s arrival

Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel is confident about the team’s progress following the arrival of new boss Mike Krack.

Krack, who hails from Luxembourg, joinedAston Martinin January and brings a wealth of experience from Formula 1, the World Endurance Championship and Formula E.

Krack is a former colleague of Vettel’s having worked with the German early in his career at BMW. After BMW-Sauber,Vettel转移到红牛之队智慧h Krack leaving the team in 2008 after they decided to focus on 2009 rather than continue the title fight with Robert Kubica.

Vettel is impressed with the 49-year-old’s knowledge and experience and says Aston Martin will only benefit from the Luxembourgish engineer’s arrival.

“It’s been a while since we worked together,” said Vettelvia Sky Sport. “I think he went his own way and went through a lot of stations and learned a lot. I think a lot happened to me too.

“That’s how it is, that’s what happens sometimes. Then you meet again. I hope we can both benefit from each other in that regard.

“I believe the team will absolutely benefit from his attitude, from his knowledge. Not just as an engineer, but I think overall he has had a lot of different experiences. And I think that can only help us to broaden our horizons at this point in time.”

The British squadlaunched their 2022 challengerlast week and the four-time former World Champion is convinced Aston Martin mean business after hiring Krack.

“Of course I was also curious about where the journey was going,” explained Vettel. “When I heard the name, I was very reassured.”

The Silverstone-based squad replaced outbound long-time team principal Otmar Szafnauer ahead of the new season. Vettel was quick to acknowledge the Romanian-American’s contribution, but hopes the experience he already has with Krack will be a benefit.

“Otmar was part of the team for a very long time and of course a very familiar face,” Vettel continued. “That’s why, in a way, it’s a loss for now.

“But looking ahead, I think we hope we will move closer together as a team and I think Mike is a top man. I had the opportunity to work with him many years ago and have good memories and experiences.

“I think he has matured extremely over the last few years and is definitely a great asset for us.”
