Jenson Button takes his second Legends Trophy win.

Jenson Button came out on the losing end of a thrilling battle with Jan Magnussen in the latest The Race All-Star Legends Trophy event.

Lime Rock in the Connecticut countryside was the scene for this Legends Trophy round with competitors using the rFactor 2McLarenM23.

2009 World ChampionJenson Buttonwas on pole for the opening race, but he was swamped off the line by Magnussen who got the perfect getaway.

From there it was all about Magnussen and Button as they pulled away from the pack – Button was all over the Danish driver for the 13-lap race, but was unable to make a move as Magnussen took the chequered flag.

“That was such a tough race, I’m shaking all over!” said Magnussen afterwards.

“What a fun race, Jan was awesome in terms of where to put the car. I threw it down the inside once at Turn 1 and we tapped and were drifting through the corner. It was so much fun,” was Button’s assessment.

Former F1 driver Mika Salo completed the podium with his P3 finish.

The grid for the second race was determined by a reverse grid, and it was another ex-F1 driver who took full advantage – that being Juan Pablo Montoya.

The Colombian driver took the lead at the start, while a big crash triggered by polesitter Petter Solberg made it a comfortable drive to victory for Montoya.

Button would finish P9 after contact with Darren Turner in the closing stages.
