Brawn wants to protect ‘B-team’ model

Ross Brawn believes the so-called B-team model should be preserved in Formula 1, arguing it helps new and smaller teams to compete.

This model, where teams source much of their parts from other teams, has been由雷诺principa严厉批评l Cyril Abiteboul, whileHaasboss Guenther Steiner, who’s team have such a relationship withFerrari, andToro Rossochief Franz Tost who have a similar partnership withRed Bull, have defended the model.

Now, Brawn has weighed in on the debate, arguing that the ‘B-team’ system should not be eliminated from the sport as part of Liberty Media’s 2021 vision, rather tweaked to give it a future which the most of the grid can accept.

“The Haas model is interesting and it has been very successful,” he toldSky Sports.

“It’s something we have to maintain for the future, for a small team to come in and be pretty respectable.

“There’s some trimming we need to do about what they’ve been able to do but all credit to them, they took a model that was there which nobody had exploited as much as they did, and it’s a great story.”

While a move to force teams to make their own suspension has been dropped, from 2020 teamsmust make their own brake ducts, but a more radical overhaul to what ‘listed parts’ teams must make themselves is still being debated.
