Silverstone deny new British GP deal agreed
Silverstone have denied reports that a new three-year deal to host the British Grand Prix has been agreed and talks are still ongoing.
The 2019 British Grand Prix is the last to be taking place at Silverstone under the current agreement, with Silverstone owners, the BRDC, and Formula 1 owners Liberty Media engaged in lengthy talks to keep the prestigious race on the calendar.
According to Motorsport Week on Tuesday, Silverstone and Liberty had agreed on a new three-year deal which would reportedly run from 2020 to 2022.
The article also stated there was no guarantee that Silverstone would be the only venue to host a Grand Prix in the United Kingdom, with Liberty still actively pursuing a second venue. The London Docklands area being of high interest for a street race.
But, Silverstone have since quashed the report.
“Following this statement, at this time Silverstone have not agreed a contract regarding the future of the British Grand Prix,” the official Silverstone Twitter account replied.
“We are able to confirm that talks are still progressing.”
Unfortunately there is unsubstantiated news circulating this morning regarding the agreement of a new deal for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. At this time we can confirm that we have not agreed a contract however talks are still progressing.

Perhaps Silverstone want to be the ones to make the big announcement themselves…
