Robert Kubica believes Monaco is highlighting Williams' problems

Robert Kubica believes Monaco is highlighting Williams' problems "even more".

Robert Kubica’s sponsors, Orlen, want an official explanation fromWilliamsas to why they retired him at the Russian Grand Prix.

With George Russell already out of the race due to a brakes issue, team-mate Kubica was retired shortly after by the team to “conserve parts ahead of the intense flyaway races which end the season,” according to senior race engineer, Dave Robson.

Kubica cut a very frustrated figure back in the Sochi paddock, labelling the whole weekend as “the worst of his career” which brought an end to his personal goal of finishing every race this season.

While Williams have given a post-race explanation, Orlen are still seeking answers from the team.

In connection with the withdrawal of Robert Kubica from Sunday’s Russian Grand Prix, we have officially asked the ROKiT Williams Racing team for clarification,” Orlen’s press officer, Joanna Zakrzewska said via Twitter.

“Based on them, we will take actions related to the enforcement of contractual obligations.”

Kubica will be leaving Williams at the end of the 2019 campaign, but both he and his sponsors have been linked with staying in the Formula 1 circle with a reserve driver role at either SportPesa Racing Point or Haas.
