有一个紧张的等着看是否他would be able to take the race start, the car suddenly spurted into life again and Gasly was able to get to the end of the pit lane with a matter of seconds left to do so.

The 26-year-old then made his way through the field as the race progressed, quietly putting in an impressive drive to make his way into the pointson an afternoon on which he may not have been able to start.

“I must say I’m extremely pleased with the race we executed,” Gasly said to Sky F1.

“Obviously I was fuming at the start of the race because we were lining up in P8 and, I’m not too sure exactly what happened, but we had an electrical problem and the car would not switch on.

“So we had to push the car back to the garage and at that time they told me we may not take part in the race, and then like 90 seconds before the race start the car became alive again.

“Not too sure exactly what happened but starting from the pit lane, I tried to stay focused, tried to stay composed and calm inside the car to the best I could with the tyres, and even surprised we made it back to the top 10, especially after the last couple of races. Extremely happy about it.”
