Max Verstappen hailed an “amazing” weekend in Belgium after winning from the seventh row on the grid, adding that a new chassis will be fitted to the Red Bull “later in the year”.

The reigning World Champion appeared as though he was in a class of his own all weekend long, setting the fastest lap in qualifying by more than six tenths of a second and, despite starting P14, hecruised to victory by a hefty margin ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez.

He said he aimed to keep himself out of trouble and, while an early Safety Car helped him stay close to the front-runners after Valtteri Bottas and Nicholas Latifi collided, he moved up to the podium places in just eight laps.

The Red Bull driver opened up a93点上方的排名after his latest victory, and he was thrilled with his weekend’s work.

“It was amazing this weekend,” Verstappen told Sky F1 after the race.

“We were super competitive already from the get go and today I knew that we could have a really good result.

“I mean, winning from P14, even with that car, it’s always been difficult because you don’t know how much you’re going to lose on lap one. You don’t know in general what’s going to happen, right?

“But luckily I stayed out of trouble even though it was a lot of stuff going on, so I was literally just trying to avoid everything.

“一旦一切平静下来的安全Car, I was just overtaking cars every lap and once I realised I was in P3 even on the soft compounds, we were very quick and I knew I had a good chance of winning the race.”

Verstappen also confirmed that a freshRed Bullchassis will be fitted later in the season, which could be up to five kilograms lighter than its current incarnation, though he did not know “the exact number” of how much weight the car will be shedding.

But despite taking his third consecutive race win and ninth of the season so far, Verstappen said Red Bull are still striving to improve.

“I’m just enjoying the moment,” he explained. “I think also everyone within the team, we are having a good time but we’re also very focused on what we want to achieve and at the moment we are achieving that. But we always want more.”
