After a month with no track action, the F1 2023 season will finally enter full swing with five races in six weeks, starting with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix which has a brand new (and hopefully exciting) sprint format.

Gone is the rather redundant FP2 session run on a Saturday prior to the sprint race and in its place is a session called Sprint Shootout – a shortened version of the traditional qualifying format that will set the grid for the sprint.

We still start the weekend with FP1, which is then followed by the usual qualifying session you all know and love – that setting the grid for Sunday’s race.

Saturday will all be about the sprint.
