Daniil Kvyatfeels he still has unfinished business with Formula 1 and would love a chance to prove it in a better working environment.

Kvyat was effectively chewed up and spat out of the Red Bull programme on numerous occasions during his initial six-season spell from 2014 to when he was axed again at the end of the 2020 campaign.

The Russian has remained in Formula 1 circles by landing a reserve role withAlpine, but he still wants another chance to return to the grid and prove that he is still worthy of a spot.

While Formula 1 racing is top priority, Kvyat is aware and comfortable of the prospect of racing in other series should a return not materialise.

“Whatever it is, I want to race,”Kvyat told Motorsport.com.

“Of course the first thing you think of is Formula 1 because I think I can still show something.

And hopefully another working environment is better for me than where I have been so far. I would really like another chance. But it’s not about what I like.

“Sometimes an opportunity comes, but sometimes it doesn’t. We will see what is possible in the short term. The next few months are crucial in that respect.

“And if something does come, there are plenty of other championships where I can race competitively and make a good living too.

“Now I look back and see what drivers they [Red Bull] have now, I can be proud of what I achieved.

“To be honest, I don’t think I could have achieved much more. That gives me confidence for the future, I know what I can do.

“I could have been in the doldrums because of that time [at Red Bull], but in the end there are more drivers who struggled. In that respect, I look back on that time with my head held high.”

Kvyat has already jokedthat Red Bull’s motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko has his number if he wants to get in touch, but he does not want to keep bringing focus back to his prior relationship with the team.

“He has my number if he needs it,” Kvyat repeated.

“It’s had so much attention already, I’ve been asked about it many times. People have my number and I know who will or will not call me. Let’s leave it at that.”
