早在2011年维泰尔已经领先the Canadian Grand Prix, a second up on a charging Jenson Button at the start of the final lap.

The German threw it away when he made a mistake at Turn 6 and ran wide, allowing Button to take the lead and the win. Vettel came home in second place.

Red Bull team boss Horner found one of his drivers,Verstappen, in a similar position in this year’s edition of the Montreal race as the Dutchman tried to hold off the Ferrari of Sainz.

Urging his driver not to make a mistake, Horner told Button that he remembered all too well throughout Sunday’s final lap in 2011.

“You just… we know with you what happened 10 years ago? I remember very well, I still having nightmares about that,” he said in a post-race interview with the Sky Sports pundit.

“It’s all too easy to grab or lock the front wheel down into the last hairpin there or in that first sector.

“And I was sort of thinking about that battle we had with you a few years ago, and I thinking ‘Max just don’t lock a break’ and he was you know, he was absolutely clinical.

“Really, really impressive drive.”

Verstappen’s win at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was Red Bull’s sixth on the trot, the driver racing out to a 46-point lead in theDrivers’ Championshipwhile Red Bull are 76 ahead of Ferrari in the teams’ standings.

Claiming the win in Montreal ahead of Sunday, the reigning World Champion was joined on the podium by Lewis Hamilton with George Russell P4.

Mercedes had a solid weekend with minimal bouncingwith Horner predicting more of the same at the next race, the British Grand Prix.

“Well, Silverstone is one of the best circuits on the calendar is it’s going to be a record crowd again this year,” he said. “We’re looking forward to seeing everybody there.

“我肯定会be huge support for you know, for the Mercedes drivers, but are we going they’re fired up and trying to pull right what happened last year.”

As for Ferrari, he says they’ll be in the fight if you look at “pure form. Yeah, you think that going there like Barcelona is going to be a good track for them.

“And Mercedes pace at the end of the race was very strong so they could well be a factor.

“So I think it’s gonna be interesting to see I’m hearing there’s a few upgrades coming in maybe on the Ferrari as well for that race. So yeah, it’s gonna be it’s gonna be an interesting one.”
