Davide Brivio has been confirmed as the new Racing Director of Alpine F1 following his recent departure from the Suzuki MotoGP team.

After the Italian’s exit, it immediately became apparent he was heading for a role with Alpine and he joins Laurent Rossi in spearheading the rebranded Renault team’s challenge from the 2021 season onwards.

“We are delighted to confirm Davide Brivio will strengthen our team ahead of the 2021 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season,” Alpine said in a statement.

“His specific role and responsibilities will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Davide will report to the Alpine CEO, Laurent Rossi. Davide joins Alpine with a wealth of experience and success following more than 20 years in the MotoGP World Championship.

“We look forward to welcoming Davide as we start the next stage of our Formula 1 journey.”

Brivio’s arrival is part ofsweeping changes being made to Renault’s Formula 1 team.

The most obvious difference for 2021 will be the change of name to Alpine, promoting Renault’s sportscar division, and the livery which, instead of black and yellow, is expected to comprise the red, white and blue of the French flag.

A predominantly black design revealed recently is not the final version.

Significant movements in personnel are also taking place and team principal Cyril Abiteboul has left, with the team’s executive director Marcin Budkowski being tipped to fill his role.

In turn, Brivio, who was the team manager at Suzuki’s Moto GP operation, becomes Racing Director with Rossi having been appointed Alpine CEO, thus fulfilling a similar position to that of Zak Brown at McLaren and incoming Jost Capito at Williams.

And, of course, there is a high-profile driver entering the fray as Fernando Alonso returns for a third spell at Renault – with whom he won the World Championship in 2005 and 2006 – as team-mate ofEsteban OconfollowingDaniel Ricciardo’s departure to McLaren.

去年7月,卢卡·德·g Meo成为雷诺的首席执行官roup and he has insisted it is not an issue that Brivio has gained all his expertise in motorcycling.

“Of course he is the outgoing world champion of Moto GP, with Suzuki, on two wheels,” De Meo told Corriere della Sera.

“But it doesn’t matter if there are four wheels on this side. He is an excellent professional, he knows the flavour of a track, the importance of having a close-knit team, entrusting everyone with a specific role. He knows how to organize the work in this way.”
