Toto Wolff has amassed a financial empire worth $1billion, according to prominent business magazine Forbes, and his car collection matches that of a person of his status.

The Mercedes team principal and CEO also owns a one-third stake in the team, and his reported car collection also includes plenty of representation from the company he fronts.

There are a few cars from other brands which he reportedly owns, however, and here is a breakdown of what the team boss is known to own, or is known to have owned in the past.

The extensive Mercedes collection of Toto Wolff

Mercedes-Benz 300 SL

Probably the most valuable car in his collection, this car originated in the W194 racing car and was converted into a road-goer by 1954, when production started.

The ‘SL’ stands for ‘super-leicht’ in German, or ‘super-light’, to reference its weight, and its famous Gullwing doors on the non-convertible version, which opened upwards to resemble a bird’s flight, were a standout feature.

Wolff has been spotted driving his 300 SL around Monaco, and one of these classic cars retails for well over the £1m mark today.

Mercedes AMG GT R

Coming up towards the present day, the Mercedes AMG GT R came onto the market in 2020 as a juiced-up version of the AMG GT which, coincidentally, Wolff also owns.

The AMG badge brings with it an extra sense of power, with it being Mercedes’ performance division, and the GT R’s top spec could get its drivers from 0-60mph in just 3.6 seconds from its 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 capable of 577bhp, and retailed from around £150,000 to £190,000, depending on spec.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

One of AMG’s biggest hits in the early 2010s, the SLS was known for its monster of a V8 engine – 6.2 litres, to be precise, and brought back the famous Mercedes Gullwing doors into the 21st century.

It won plenty of design awards in its time, and was also entered into GT3 racing categories.

Bugatti Veyron

The fastest production car in the world when it was released, the Bugatti Veyron famously produced 1,001bhp and could get up to speeds of 252mph.

With an enormous 8-litre W16 engine with four turbochargers, it also set any buyers back over £1million when it was sold from new, with the model having since been superceded by the Chiron, which produces upwards of 1500bhp.

Maserati GranTurismo

A rear-wheel drive grand tourer with a 4.7-litre V8 engine, the Maserati GranTurismo was produced in various forms between 2007 and 2019, and could get you from 0-60mph in under five seconds. Not bad for nipping to the shops…

Which cars has Toto Wolff sold?

UK-based auction houseTom Hartley Jnrsold three separate cars from Wolff as he looked to trim down his private collection, with the Mercedes team boss having sold a 2009 Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series – one of only 350 produced in the world – along with two others.

These were a 2018 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, which only had delivery miles registered, suggesting Wolff did not get behind the wheel of this particular machine himself, and a 2003 Ferrari Enzo, which was decked out in Nero Leather in the interior and Rosso Corsa red on the outside.

In the Enzo, the sale listing wrote that: “Less than 350km has been covered in the car whilst in Toto’s ownership, those miles all accumulated on a very memorable day with himself, his wife Susie and F1 legend Niki Lauda driving some of his cars through the Austrian Alpes.”

Owning a coveted car and taking it for one spin around Austria before selling it, to be fair, is a baller move. And if you can, why not?
