Max Verstappen’s RB19 subject to random FIA inspection after British Grand Prix
The FIA confirmed that Max Verstappen’s Red Bull RB19 was chosen for random inspection following his British GP win, and passed with flying colours.
Verstappen continued his dominant F1 2023 ways at the British Grand Prix, taking a sixth victory in a row and his eighth overall this season.
He did have to fight for it though, denying Lando Norris in the far-improved McLaren pole position with his final attempt, before then spending the first five laps of the race behind Norris after the Brit passed him at the start.
From there though Verstappen could not be stopped, the Dutchman going on to claim victory ahead of Norris, with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton completing the podium.
And as is customary following a race, Formula 1’s governing body the FIA randomly selected one car from the top 10 for more detailed scrutineering, the challenger subject to their attention being Verstappen’s RB19.
Considering the fact that no other team or driver has had an answer for Verstappen so far this season, rivals likely would have been quietly hoping that the FIA stumbled across something untoward to explain the Red Bull dominance.
But, Verstappen’s RB19 was fully compliant with the relevant regulations, as determined by the FIA.

“After the race of the British GP, car 01 was randomly chosen among the top 10 cars for more extensive physical inspections,” the report stated.
“Subject to these physical inspections was the fuel system according to TR [Technical Regulations] Articles 5.11 and 6 as well as the team’s submission relating the fuel system according to TD001 F 3.1.
“All suspected components were found to be in conformance with the 2023 Formula One Technical Regulations.”
Verstappen, understandably, heads into this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix as the overwhelming favourite for victory, his buffer at the top of theDrivers’ Championshipalready standing at 99 points over Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez.
