Incredible 160-piece Michael Schumacher collection to be auctioned

The majority of the collection comprises pieces from the seven-time World Champion’s career, from signed hats through to car parts, charity football shirts, race gloves, visors, helmets and more, along with pieces from brother and six-time F1 race winner Ralf and son Mick.

One unique piece included is a 1989 bottle of winner’s champagne signed by both Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, set to fetch between $5000-$10,000, in an enormous auction put on by RM Sotheby’s.

The collection totals 160 lots and includes pieces like a helmet from Schumacher’s days in German Formula 3 from 1989 and 1990, to more affordable lots like a collection of Schumacher soft toys.

Price estimates are listed under each item, and the lot predicted to fetch the most money at auction is a race-worn helmet from Schumacher’s first title-winning year in 1994, while he was racing for Benetton.

The Bell helmet comes with a certificate of authenticity and Schumacher’s signature along with the inscription ‘Brazil ’94’, denoting the Brazilian Grand Prix that season, which he won, with the early price estimate set between $40,000 and $60,000.

Helmets from six of his seven title-winning seasons are also up for auction, among dozens of other items – with one Ayrton Senna Nacional-branded hat from 1993 also available at an estimate of $5000-$10,000.

Items with a huge amount of history and value are being listed on the auction, with bidding set to take place over a three-week period between 16 August and 6 September on lots that span Schumacher’s junior career and Formula 1 spells with Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes.

With son Mick Schumacher having also made it into Formula 1, a Haas race suit of his is up for auction, alongside a race suit for PREMA from his title-winning Formula 2 season and signed caps.
