芝加哥商业交易所edes have revealed the contents of what their next upgrade to the W14 will be, with Toto Wolff having previously teased “a big one” would be coming at Silverstone.

芝加哥商业交易所edes made the first part of their wholesale changes to the concept of the W14 in Monaco, with their results having measurably improved in the following races as their car aligns more closely with their fellow front-runners.

The newest change to the car was revealed by trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin to be a new front wing, that will debut at Silverstone this weekend.

Andrew Shovlin: New Mercedes front wing coming at British Grand Prix

芝加哥商业交易所edes team boss Wolff explained that the next batch of upgrades would involve a “big one” at Silverstone before a “smaller one afterwards”, and Shovlin has now revealed this “big” upgrade to be a new front wing.

Ferrari and Aston Martin have been among Mercedes’ rivals to introduce new front wing concepts in recent races, and the Silver Arrows are joining them in doing so.

Shovlin acknowledged the quality of the battle they are currently enjoying in the top four, which appeared to become a top five with McLaren having muscled their way into contention in Austria, with Lando Norris enjoying strong pace behind the wheel of his heavily-updated MCL60.

Regardless, Shovlin hopes the new upgrade to the W14 will help propel Mercedes forward after an underwhelming weekend in Austria by their standards.

“Well, it’s a fantastic event that we really look forward to,” Shovlin said of the British Grand Prix in Mercedes’ post-Austria debrief.

“The team is based very close to the track, we’ve got two British drivers and the support is always absolutely phenomenal, so we love going there.

“We’ve got updates coming to the car, we have a new front wing that we’re going to be bringing that will hopefully move us a bit further up the grid.

“And also, we’re hoping that the track itself is just going to suit the car a bit better than that Austria circuit.

“So we’re working very hard, we know that it’s going to be very difficult to get anywhere close to Max in the Red Bull car, but we’ve got a great fight going on at the moment with Ferrari, with Aston Martin, McLaren have joined in that battle.

“So as I said, we’re going to be working really hard to make sure we can get as much out of the package as we can, and hopefully it’ll be a great race for all the fans.”
