Martin Brundle ‘bursts Lando Norris eardrums’ as gridwalk remains off-air
Martin Brundle continued to experiment away from his usual gridwalk segment, with Lando Norris joking about a pair of burst eardrums as a result.
Martin Brundle’s gridwalk, which sees him roam the grid pre-race for a chat with drivers, celebrities and everyone in between, has been a staple of Formula 1 coverage over the past few decades.
In recent times though that feature has been parked, with Brundle, during the last two rounds, interviewing fans in the grandstands at Spa-Francorchamps while he was not part of the coverage at Zandvoort.

It means Brundle then has only done one gridwalk since his infamous Silverstone encounter with Cara Delevingne, that being his pre-Hungarian GP gridwalk, and in Monza he tried his latest experiment by interviewing Norris while he was being pushed in his McLaren to his grid slot.
Norris was armed with a Sky microphone in the cockpit as Brundle walked alongside the car to ask questions in a unique twist on a driver interview, though the segment did not exactly go to plan with Brundle initially unable to hear Norris, with Norris then struggling to hear the ex-F1 racer.

Once Brundle wrapped-up the interview, Norris joked that it had been far from helpful for his ears.
“I think you’ve broken both of my eardrums!” Norris said. “But nice to talk to you as always.”
Norris lined-up P9 for the Italian GP, with team-mate Oscar Piastri two places further up the grid.
