刘易斯·汉密尔顿has sounded the alarm bells on Red Bull’s era of dominance with the Briton warning it could last another “three seasons”.

Red Bull have destroyed their competition this season, romping from one race win to another as they head toward a second successive championship double and a third World title with Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman has been in impeccable form this season as he’s raced to 10 wins, including a run of eight, to grab a 125-point lead in the standings ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.

Unbeatable with 12 wins from 12 races, Red Bull have not only set a new record for the most successive wins, beating McLaren’s 1988 tally of 11, but if Verstappen is triumphant at the next race in Zandvoort, he’ll match Sebastian Vettel’s record of nine in a row.

But it’s not just the number of P1s that has rivals worried, it’s Red Bull’s winning margin with the team easily double digits ahead of the nearest non-Red Bull driver at the end of a grand prix.

And given that closing such a margin isn’t easy, Hamilton fears Red Bull could continue to dominate Formula 1 for another three years.

“We shouldn’t have a chance to dominate for a large number of years, the battle for top positions should be closer,” Sportskeeda quotes the seven-time World Champion as having told Channel 4.

“Unfortunately, however, Red Bull could seriously dominate in the next three seasons as well.

“If we continue like this, maybe it will be Ferrari that will dominate in the next few years, or maybe McLaren will, or maybe Mercedes will come back ahead, but I think this is not the best thing for the fans.”

This isn’t the first time Hamilton has sounded the warning over Red Bull’s dominance with the Briton calling on the FIA to intervene by setting a date of August 1 as the earliest that teams could start working on the following year’s car.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1 back in June, he said: “I think the FIA should probably put a time when everyone is allowed to start developing for the next year’s car.

“So August 1, that’s when everybody can start, so that no one can get an advantage from the next year. Because that sucks.

“Say for example you start the season and you know you have a bad car, you could just say actually I’m not going to bother with developing this car, I’ll put all this money into next year’s car and have an advantage.”

The seven-time World Champion reckons this year’s RB19 is the “fastest car” he’s seen, saying that even “when we were fast, we weren’t that fast.”
