Lando Norris and Nicholas Latifi were flying the flag for F1 in the latest Veloce Esports races, with the former taking a win.

Norris has been racing in various Esports events since the Formula 1 season was suspended, enjoying success in many of them.

In Veloce’s “Not the Bahrain Grand Prix” last week, the Brit had to settle for P10 in the first race and P7 in the reverse grid event that followed, but had far less trouble this time around.

After taking pole position by six-tenths of a second in qualifying at a virtual Silverstone, Norris managed to hold his lead and avoid any incidents at the first corner. The same couldn’t be said for most of the grid…

Latifi enjoyed a solid start himself, moving up from P18 to P12, while former F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez was running in P3 briefly before losing control and falling to P10.

As Norris continued to pull away at the front, a battle developed for P2 between Sacha Fenestraz, Ed Jones and James Baldwin.

However, none of them could get close to the McLaren man, who was just over 10 seconds clear of second-placed Baldwin when he crossed the line to take victory. Latifi could only managed P18.

诺里斯的win meant that he started the reverse-grid race that followed in P10, and he once again impressed.

He took advantage of incidents ahead of them to move up to P6 on Lap 2 and quickly showed he was the fastest man on track, getting himself in the top three just three laps later.

With a 15-minute time limit on the race, however, taking the win was always going to be a tall order, and it was one he couldn’t manage.

Norris closed on the leader, Martin Kodric, rapidly, getting himself within a second by the final lap. However, with the race taking place on iRacing rather than F1 2019, DRS wasn’t available and he couldn’t quite take his second win of the day.

“I needed that little mistake from him, but I made a mistake on the second to last lap going into Turn 3, and that was the chance lost,” Norris told Veloce after the race.

“(The first race) was quite straightforward just because I didn’t have to fight anyone. As soon as you start battling in these cars you lose so much time. ”
