Kevin Magnussenis remaining pretty relaxed about his contract situation at Haas, saying he can only continue to the best he can.

Magnussen and Romain Grosjean have formed Haas’ driver line-up for the last four seasons in Formula 1 and the team do have options to extend their respective contracts by a further year once again.

However, Haas appear to be assessing their options as team boss Guenther Steiner has said thatthe door is open for Sebastian Vettelif the four-time World Champion did want the challenge of working with a smaller midfield team.

“Vettel is a four-time World Champion. Does he really want to work with a smaller team?,” Steiner told the media in Austria, as quoted bySpeedWeek.com.

“What does he want to do with his life? I don’t know.

“If he wants to do something with us, he’s welcome, we have a good relationship.”

Magnussen, though, isn’t worried about anyone potentially taking his seat.

“No, I do not want to say I am nervous,”Magnussen to Danish newspaper BT.

“But I also know that you can never know for sure about anything in Formula 1.

“I’m older and I’ve got better at taking things as they come. I have become better at staying focused.

“At the beginning of my career, there was much more of an impact on my mental well-being, but now I am much more calm.

“I know what I can do and what I stand for and what I have to offer a team. It all gives me peace of mind. As long as I do my best, I can do no more.”

Whilst Magnussen’s future remains uncertain, so too doesHaas‘ who are yet to fully commit to Formula 1 in the years to come.

Team owner Gene Haas was present at the second race at the Red Bull Ring to take a closer look at operations.

Magnussen added: “Gene came to the race this weekend. We have not seen him since the winter test, and now we have to see if he says anything about the future.”
