Ex-team boss gives Martin Brundle a ‘bit of a ribbing’ over Cara Delevingne snub
Eddie Jordan has joked “poor old Martin” after Martin Brundle was snubbed by Cara Delevingne on the British Grand Prix grid, after all she was “fine” with being interviewed by the former team boss a few years back.
Brundle racked up another of his infamous celebrity interviews, or in this case non-interview, at Silverstone on Sunday when he approached Delevingne and an Alfa Romeo representative for a quick chat with the model.
He was rebuffed with Delevingne laughing that she couldn’t hear him only for Brundle to walk away with a sly dig of “well I’m sure it would have been extremely interesting.”

Jordan saw the funny side in the snub, after all Delevingne had given him a few minutes of her time a few years back when he presenting at the Monaco Grand Prix.
“He won’t get many more supermodels coming to him if that’s the case,” the 75-year-old said laughing totalkSPORT.
“Cara Delevingne, I do actually know this girl and she’s a great girl,” he continued.
“I interviewed her in Monaco some years ago and she was fine with me so I’ll have to give Martin a bit of a ribbing that she did it for me but not for him.
“I do know her sister, who used to be a model for my daughter in her fashion business, so we all have to stick together, but poor old Martin, you can tell Martin that I set him up for that.”

“Respect goes both ways,” the team stated on Instagram. “Nobody should be placed in an uncomfortable situation or forced to do things against their will.”
However, according to Brundle, speaking to him on the grid, if you’re lucky enough to get there, is now mandatory under F1 regulations.
“There have been new rules introduced,” he revealed after he was blocked by Megan Thee Stallion’s entourage at the 2021 United States Grand Prix, “that any celebrities on the grid must not have bodyguards any longer.
“It must be the ‘Brundle clause’, and they’re obliged to talk to me. I sort of like it if they ignore me, to be honest.”
Fans have called on Alfa Romeo to in future give their guest tickets, and especially those allowed on the grid, to “true motorsport” fans.
“Don’t get it why F1 Team wanna invite celebrities who don’t even know or love this sport at all, sorry, but it is such a waste of resources to have them there,” wrote kaymelanie_15.
“There are so much true motorsport lover out there who can’t get a chance to get closer to the team, the sport that they truly love and would truly appreciate the day. Hope F1 could make true Motorsport fans’ dream come true rather than spending unnecessarily on celebrities.”
