The unnamed Brad Pitt-led Formula 1 movie is one of several mega-budget productions that have been shut down due to strikes.

The Formula 1 movie that is being put together by director Joseph Kosinski has been put on the long finger, as a result of the major SAG-AFTRA labour union strike in Hollywood.

More than 160,000 screen performers have gone on strike, meaning several film shoots have had to shut down until actors have reached a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, coinciding with a strike by the Writers Guild of America.

Brad Pitt F1 movie filming delayed

Last weekend, at the British Grand Prix, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris were on the ground at Silverstone for critical filming purposes in the paddock. With a team motorhome for team APXGP, the outfit was given a garage location for the filming, with two demo cars lining up on the grid for the formation lap of the real Grand Prix.

Both Pitt and Idris also took part in the pre-race national anthem ceremonies alongside the likes of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, with the filmmakers recording the walk to their cars as the real race geared up for lights out.

But, with thousands of screenwriters on the picket lines for the last two months, the strike of SAG-AFTRA, their first since 1980, has meant several film productions have been shut down.

“All filming is shut down for now,” according to a source close to the production,as reported by NBC.

“Brad had really enjoyed himself,” the source told NBC News, “but he is definitely a very loyal member of the union.”

At the time of writing, a release date for the movie is yet to be confirmed but, when it does, it will be released courtesy of Apple who have secured the film rights.
