Ferrari have been listed as the most valuable F1 team on the entire grid, following new 2023 analysis published by a sports business website.

Fresh investment into Alpine by an investor group including the likes of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Michael B. Jordan made the news by a 24% stake being bought for €200m [£171m], which valued the French F1 team around £706m.

And analysis published afterwards by sports business websiteSporticovalued each of the current F1 teams’ assets and profits, and they found Ferrari to be the most valuable team on the grid by quite some distance – at $3.13bn [£2.48bn].

Mercedes, Red Bull and McLaren behind Ferrari as most valuable F1 teams

Mercedes and Red Bull were next behind Ferrari in Sportico’s valuations, with all three teams making an operating profit in 2022 – though Mercedes comfortably made the most money of the three by their reports, with a reported $114m [£90.2m] operating profit by last year’s accounts.

McLaren are the fourth-highest valued team, with Aston Martin in fifth, though construction of Aston Martin’s new Formula 1 factory at Silverstone is a likely factor behind a $55m operating loss for the team last year.

Alpine are listed as the sixth most valuable Formula 1 team, with AlphaTauri ahead of Alfa Romeo, Williams and Haas.

In a stark change from many years gone by in Formula 1 history, seven of the 10 teams were reported to have been profitable in 2022, with F1 having traditionally been a loss-making sport for anyone not at the top of the tree.

The sport’s budget cap and spending limits have looked to bring about a more level playing field for the teams, but given the difference in size of value of the teams on the grid, there are still much bigger fish than others on the Formula 1 grid to this day.
