Full raft of Mercedes and Aston Martin’s performance upgrades for the Dutch GP revealed

Mercedes and Aston Martin have both arrived at the Zandvoort circuit with a raft of performance upgrades with yet more tweaks to the W14’s sidepod inlets while the AMR23 has a revised floor and diffuser.

The AMR23 has a new floor, floor fences, and edge to improve local flow details and increase the load generated by the floor, as well as an updated diffuser. The latter has been modified to change the volume of the lower surface and works in conjunction with the floor revisions to improve flow.

Alonso was asked for his thoughts on the upgrades and told the media including PlanetF1.com: “To get a clear direction, not only for this year but also for next year in terms of direction on the car.

“I think in Canada we brought some new parts as well, and Silverstone and now these new aerodynamic parts that we bring here, hopefully, add the performance we expect.”

But will it put him back on the podium? “I hope so,” he said.

As for Mercedes, they’ve bought a new floor edge and beam wing as well as sidepod inlet changes with the inboard mirror stay decambered in a bid to improve the air flow to the rear of the car.

Meanwhile, McLaren have brought a new rear and beam wing to the track while AlphaTauri have revised their rear wing endplate and Haas have a significant upgrade too.

With a new front wing, nose, and rear corner brake cooling ducts, the team is hoping the latter will resolve the tyre issue that has blighted their championship.

Haas said of the nose changes: “The nose tip, that in our car is merging into the second forward wing element, is part of the wing leading edge. The work is focused on the best compromise between the nose geometry and the wing profile itself.”

Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Williams haven’t brought any new parts to the Netherlands.
