Upgrades for the Austrian Grand Prix have been confirmed, and McLaren and Ferrari are the ones to raise eyebrows with what they have brought with them to the paddock at the Red Bull Ring.

The ‘show and tell’ document has been published by the FIA confirming the upgrades placed on each of the teams’ cars this weekend, with six of the 10 teams having brought updates with them to Austria.

McLaren, Ferrari, Williams, Red Bull, Haas and AlphaTauri have all made changes to their cars, with some more significant than others.

Ferrari bring a new front wing and floor, McLaren go further than that

Ferrari confirmed they have a new front wing and floor body on the car this weekend at the Red Bull Ring as their updates, with team principal Fred Vasseur continuing the Scuderia’s approach of looking to bring some kind of update to every race this season where possible.

All elements of the front wing have been redesigned for this update, with the team saying they changed the mainplane, flap and endplate to try and improve the car by offering more aerodynamic balance.

Likewise, the floor changes have been designed in mind with complementing the front wing upgrades, to make the most of any performance gains they make there.

But at McLaren, team principal Andrea Stella confirmedtheir car changes were so big that they would be rolled out over the course of multiple races, and would effectively amount to the MCL60 becoming a B-spec car in that time.

The first steps towards that have been made in Austria, with McLaren updating the shape of their sidepod inlets, Halo, cooling louvres, a reshaped engine cover/coke and floor body – with the floor in particular being “fully revised”, according to the team.

Red Bull change rear suspension, more upgrades further down the grid

Elsewhere, Red Bull confirmed they have “subtly changed” their rear suspension by adjusting the wishbone fairings to improve stability in only a minor upgrade.

After the wholesale upgrades brought to Alex Albon’s car in Canada, Williams will bring the same upgrades to Logan Sargeant’s car in Austria this time around, while adding two further changes, with updates to the floor fences and front corner as they search for even more performance.

Mercedes, Alpine, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo have not brought upgrades with them to the Red Bull Ring this weekend.
