Fernando Alonso is one of Formula 1’s highest-paid drivers, and many would argue rightly so, given the career he has had.

Alonso’s net worth has been widely reported to be around $260m (£213m) as of the 2023 season, having commanded one of the highest salaries in the sport for a long period of time.

But alongside his efforts in Formula 1, he has also turned his attention into helping inspire the next generation.

Prominent business magazineForbeslisted Alonso as the third-highest earning driver on the grid in 2022, prior to his high-profile move to Aston Martin on a multi-year contract.

They reported that he earned a $30m paycheque with Alpine in 2022, behind only Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in terms of overall salary on the grid.

He will also earn money through his sponsors, chiefly Kimoa, the brand Alonso founded and launched in 2017. He sold it in 2021, but continues to represent the brand as its ambassador.

Other high-profile sponsors and partners throughout Alonso’s career include the likes of Santander, Cajastur, TAG Heuer, Europcar, Silestone, Liberbank, ING, Chandon, Adidas, and Bang & Olufsen.

Away from Formula 1, in his native Asturias, a track bearing Alonso’s name has been constructed and in 2011, the Museo y Circuito Fernando Alonso was opened to the public by the man himself.

A museum is there that holds a host of memorabilia from the Spaniard’s life and career, from old karts to racing suits to helmets to multiple Formula 1 cars, including both World Championship-winning Renault chassis from 2005 and 2006, the 2017 chassis in which he entered the Indianapolis 500 and more.

The circuit also hosts the Fernando Alonso Karting School, that hopes to bring through young talent in the area and get them onto the motorsport ladder.

Alongside that, Alonso co-founded A14 Management, an agency through which he and his co-founders manage several young drivers through their junior careers – though he is yet to race against one of his clients in Formula 1, for now…

In terms of charity, Alonso has long been associated with UNICEF, and worked with them on several occasions over the course of his career on different projects.
