F1 results: Timings from Dutch Grand Prix qualifying

Here are the complete results from the qualifying hour in Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix.

The Dutch driver clocked a 1:10.567 on his final flying run in qualifying, having had it all to do due to two red flag stoppages during a chaotic Q3 session.

Verstappen and Lando Norris traded fastest sector times, but it was the home hero who came out on top to beat the British driver by half a second. With Norris in second, it was Mercedes’ George Russell who came home in third a further two-tenths of a second behind.

Two drivers in the top 10 bring out the red flags in Dutch GP qualifying

Alex Albon was fourth as he continued Williams’ stellar weekend, with Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso in fifth and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz in sixth – making it six different cars in the top six.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was seventh, with Oscar Piastri eighth for McLaren.

The two drivers who caused the two red flags during Q3 were down in ninth and 10th, with Charles Leclerc beating Logan Sargeant.

Having made it through into Q3 for the first time in his F1 career, Sargeant lost control of his Williams as he just touched off the damp off the racing line. Spinning off into the gravel, his car made heavy impact with the barriers approaching Hugenholtz – the American driver uninjured as he clambered free of his car.

The crash resulted in a lengthy red flag stoppage, as barrier repairs were needed at the crash site.

The session resumed just long enough for the two McLarens to move to the top, with Verstappen on a quicker lap that ended up being in vain as the red flags were thrown again as Charles Leclerc crashed his Ferrari in the second sector.

The Monegasque ran wide into the grass and speared off into the barriers, doing some damage to the left side of his SF-23, but thankfully escaping injury.

Verstappen was also the quickest man in the second part of qualifying in Zandvoort, with the Dutch driver making the most of the improving conditions to put in the quickest time just at the chequered flag.

The rapid improvements in track conditions meant the timing of the fastest laps was critical, with Verstappen timing his run well to go quickest with a 1:18.856 on the intermediates, half a second clear of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri.

Faring less well was Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who mistimed his final run to be knocked out down in 13th with his best time 1.295 away from Verstappen’s time. Lance Stroll was knocked out in 11th for Aston Martin, ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly in 12th.

Behind Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda was 14th for AlphaTauri, with Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg in 15th.

Alex Albon was quickest in the first part of qualifying, with the Williams driver putting in a 1:20.939 in the wet conditions of Q1 to pip Verstappen by just 0.026 seconds.

With wet conditions at Zandvoort, intermediates were the order of the day as the drivers pounded around to put in plenty of laps during the 18 minutes of track time. With 20 cars on track on such a short circuit, there were plenty of blocking incidents noted by the stewards.

Joining them on the sidelines were Alpine’s Esteban Ocon as the big scalp of Q1 down in 17th, while Haas’ Kevin Magnussen was in 18th. Down in last, and perhaps not surprisingly given the scale of the challenge facing him this weekend, was AlphaTauri’s Liam Lawson.
