Lance Stroll invites Pierre Gasly to ‘parking lot’ after British Grand Prix collision

Lance Stroll joked that he and Pierre Gasly will meet in the “parking lot” to address their coming together in the British GP.

Stroll had gone to battle with the sole remaining Alpine of Gasly at Silverstone, an exchange which ultimately ended with a time penalty for Stroll and race-ending damage for Gasly.

Stroll had escaped punishment from Race Control after going off the track to complete a pass on the Frenchman at Stowe, and as Gasly later tried to fight back through the Vale chicane, the pair would collide.

That caused a broken suspension for Gasly, making it a double retirement for the Alpine team, while Stroll was handed a five-second time penalty which dropped him to P14 in the final standings. Stroll also picked up two penalty points for his superlicence, which are set to put him ahead of Gasly at the top of the pile.

And when asked by PlanetF1.com if he had spoken to Gasly yet about the incident, Stroll, jokingly, laid out a location where they could do just that.

“No, I’ll meet him in the parking lot later!” Stroll quipped.

The Aston Martin driver would then go into further detail on the exchange, and explained that he was left confused by the steward’s decision to give him a time penalty.

“I got forced off the track both times I passed him, So I’m not really sure why I got a penalty because I was given no room,” he told media including PlanetF1.com.

“I got a track limits for one and I was forced wide and forced wide and then the next time I passed him again I was given no room.

“I was forced wide and then I came back on the track and we touched. If I was given more room I wouldn’t have had to come back on the track and we wouldn’t have touched.”

Silverstone was not exactly a race weekend for Aston Martin to remember in general, Stroll’s team-mate Fernando Alonso managing only P7.

Stroll then hopes that the tight and technical Hungaroring which is next up will be a happier hunting ground for the team.

“Looking forward to Budapest, it was a tricky weekend for us, just on the backfoot,” he said.

“We’ve been better on the tight twisties than on these ones, so hopefully we’ll be quicker there.”

Aston Martin remain P3 in theConstructors’ standingsbut are now 22 points behind Mercedes ahead.
