FIA reveal the five big Red Bull RB19 changes ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix

Although much of the focus ahead of the Hungarian GP weekend has been on Red Bull’s revised sidepods, those are by no means the only upgrades in what is the team’s second big update of the season.

Following on from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix upgrades, this weekend Red Bull have another big package that is said to be worth at least two-tenths of a second per lap, some pundits reckon perhaps even more.

从the sidepod inlet, the new letterbox look will reportedly increase cooling efficiency by improving the pressure at the entry of the radiator duct. It’s the most notable of Red Bull’s changes which include sidepods that have been widened from the inlet extending to the rear suspension.

The team also has a new front and rear corner with enlarged brake ducts to deal with the heat in Budapest while the floor body and floor edge have again be revised to work better with the new-look sidepods.

Only time will tell if the revisions bring the two-tenths that are been thrown about in the paddock.

Red Bull’s junior team, AlphaTauri, have also brought extensive upgrades to the Hungaroring as Daniel Ricciardo makes his much-anticipated return to the Formula 1 grid having replaced Nyck de Vries.

The Honey Badger will race an upgraded AT04 which features a new front wing, with the central elements of the component raised, while the nose has also been lifted. There’s a new floor in the mix and the rear wing flap tips have been altered to improve downforce.

Ferrari and Mercedes have also focused on downforce with the SF-23 sporting a new track-specific front wing while Mercedes’ W14 has a new front suspension, front wing endplates and rear wing tips.

Revealing that the suspension changes are aimed at improving flow quality along the chassis side, the new rear wing is intended to increase downforce and drag.

Aston Martin have a new engine cover that the team hopes will allow for better cooling, Alpine have modified their front wing flags and Haas have a new floor.

Neither McLaren, Alfa Romeo nor Williams have brought upgrades to round 11 of the championship, the penultimate race before the summer break.
