The final F1 results before the summer break are in, with the Belgian Grand Prix having now taken place at Spa-Francorchamps.

After the drama of the sprint on Saturday, all eyes were turned to the race itself and the grid was reverted to how it was set in qualifying on Friday.

In the opposite of what had happened for the rest of the race weekend, the Belgian Grand Prix started in dry conditions, with Max Verstappen demoted to sixth on the grid after a penalty for taking a new gearbox beyond his allocation for the season.

Sergio Perez would leapfrog polesitter Charles Leclerc into the lead after getting a good slipstream into Les Combes, but contact between Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz would leave the young Australian out of the race and the Ferrari driver falling down the order with significant damage, before having to retire himself midway through the race.

At the front, Verstappen made steady progress and overtook his team-mate for the lead on lap 17, and despite the track getting a sprinkling of rain halfway through the race, the drivers were able to stay out on dry tyres – albeit using all their skills to stay on the road.

It was an eighth win in a row for Verstappen in the end, taking a comfortable victory ahead of team-mate Perez and Leclerc on the road, with Lewis Hamilton stealing the point for fastest lap at the final possible moment.
