Carlos Sainz joins star-studded Ryder Cup line-up in pre-tournament match

Avid golfer Carlos Sainz has signed up to take part in an All-Star match ahead of the Ryder Cup later this month.

A one-day celebrity event will take place at the Marco Simone Golf Club on September 27th, two days before the Ryder Cup itself gets underway at the same course.

The event will see celebrities from the world of sport, movies, and music take part, with Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin helming the teams as playing captains for the All-Star match.

Each team will have four celebrities, as well as one of the world’s top two golfers with a disability.

‘Team Monty’, under Colin Montgomerie, stars Gareth Bale, Novak Djokovic, Italian surfer Leonardo Fioravanti, content creator Garrett Hilbert, and G4D Tour player Kipp Popert.

Team Pavin consists of Sainz, former professional footballer Andriy Shevchenko, Super Bowl winner Victor Cruz, Hollywood’s Kathryn Newton, and G4D winner Tommaso Perrino.

Taking to social media, Sainz confirmed the news by tagging his teammates on Instagram and saying “Excited for this one! Go Team Pavin!”

For PlanetF1.com readers who also like to watch golf, the match Sainz is playing in will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, as well as on the Golf Channel in the United States.

In certain regions, the match will be live-streamed on the official Ryder Cup YouTube channel, as well as on X (formerly known as Twitter), as well as on Ryder Cup Europe and Ryder Cup USA Facebook channels.

Live coverage on Sky Sports Golf will run from 1pm on Wednesday, September 27th.
