Rubens Barrichello believes that, while both Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have excellent qualities, the latter is the better driver.

The Brazilian,who recently won an Esports race, was answering questions from fans on an Instagram live arranged by Motorsport.com when he was asked which of his two former rivals was the best.

It’s one of the sport’s biggest arguments, and many drivers opt to sit on the fence when asked such questions, but Barrichello did the opposite, giving a definitive answer.

“I thinkHamilton’squalities make him better thanAlonso“, he said.

“Especially because, when they fought each other, they had just started their career. Today Hamilton is better than Alonso.”

Although he raced with both Hamilton and Alonso, he seems to have a closer relationship with the Spaniard, so this may come as a surprise to some. However, he went on to also praise the former McLaren driver’s ability.

“I think Alonso has the qualities that, with a good car, he can drive in different ways and could be the best,” he added.

“When he passed Ferrari there were many challenges, then he lost and he started talking and there were very strange situations.”
