Sebastian Vettel to drive legendary F1 car collection at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Sebastian Vettel will be heading to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, driving multiple historic Formula 1 cars from his collection across the weekend.

The four-time Formula 1 World Champion will be doing so with a difference, though, as he will be climbing up the Goodwood Hill on e-fuels, following up from the launch of his ‘Race Without Trace’ campaign last season at Silverstone, where he took the Williams FW14B he owns – driven to title glory by Nigel Mansell in 1992 – around the track on sustainable fuel.

Vettel will be driving the same car again at Goodwood in July, one of the most successful in the history of Formula 1, as well as others from his collection, including Ayrton Senna’s McLaren MP4/8 from 1993 – with a display of Vettel’s collection also set to be available for public view across the weekend.

It will be the German’s second visit to the popular motorsport festival, having been back in 2012 alongside then-Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber to drive the team’s title-winning RB7 up the famous hill climb.

“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of some of my most memorable cars which will be running on sustainable fuel over the weekend.

“I’m a passionate racer and it’s important to me that we continue to enjoy driving iconic racing cars today and in the future, but that we do so in a responsible way.”

The Duke of Richmond, who hosts the annual festival, added: “I have fond memories of Sebastian’s first visit to the Festival of Speed in 2012 and am hugely excited to welcome him back to Goodwood.

“I know our fans will be delighted to have an opportunity to celebrate his incredible career and to see him in action on the Hill.

“His attitude towards sourcing alternative fuels absolutely aligns with our plans across the event and the wider Estate to ensure we are shining a light on this important topic and protect motorsport for the next generation.”

Formula 1 cars will be moving to fully sustainable fuels from the 2026 season, with the new generation of power units set to introduce carbon-neutral synthetic fuel into the cars’ combustion engines.

The Festival of Speed runs from 13-16 July at Goodwood House in Sussex, with Vettel due to appear on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July at the event.
