Jamie Chadwick keeps ‘F1 dream alive’ with Williams renewal confirmed

Jamie Chadwick said she is keeping her “Formula 1 dream alive” after she confirmed she would be staying with Williams as part of the team’s driver academy.

In 2019, Chadwick became just the second driver in the academy following its rebrand from the Young Driver Programme and has been a member every year since.

During that time, she became a three-time W Series Champion, winning every year that the competition has been running but there were question marks as to whether her relationship with Williams would continue following her move to Indy NXT with Andretti.

Williams though have confirmed Chadwick will keep her role in the academy and the 24-year-old said it allowed her to keep her “Formula 1 dream alive.”

“To be continuing my relationship with Williams is amazing,” Chadwick said. “I’ve had their support since 2019.

“Having the opportunity to immerse myself within the team and keep that Formula One dream alive is very important.

“I look forward to seeing what we can achieve together.

“I’ve got a big year ahead and their support is going to be invaluable.”

Previous drivers to have come through the academy or young driver programme include Lance Stroll, Nicholas Latifi and 2023 F1 rookie Logan Sargeant.

Chadwick will be the veteran of the academy as its longest serving member with three of the other four drivers joining in 2022.

Williams said Chadwick will be able to work with the team as she makes her Indy NXT debut and sporting director Sven Smeets said she was “an important role model in inspiring the next generation of females in motorsport.”

“We’re very excited to have Jamie continuing as a core part of our Driver Academy at Williams Racing,” he said.

“She’s an incredibly talented driver and an important role model in inspiring the next generation of females in motorsport.

“We look forward to supporting her in 2023 while she takes on the new challenge in Indy NXT.”
