Daniel Ricciardo will reportedly see renowned MotoGP surgeon Xavier Mir in the next few days after breaking his hand during second practice at the Dutch Grand Prix, ruling him out of the race.
Ricciardo went hard into the barriers at the banked Turn 3 corner at the Zandvoort circuit, crashing nose-first with the Aussie saying it was “either” that or slamming into Oscar Piastri’s crashed McLaren.

The Aussie, cradling his hand as he climbed out of his stricken AT04, was taken to hospital for an X-ray with AlphaTauri confirming the break.
He was later spotted in the paddock with his left hand heavily bandaged and supported by a sling.
The Honey Badger, on the track in only his third weekend back in the sport, will undergo further examinations in the coming days with his team boss Tost revealing he may need surgery.
“It is so bad that he cannot drive, he has broken his left-hand metacarpal,” the Austrian confirmed to Viaplay.
“For sure he will not drive here and we will see what is going to happen for Monza, but maybe he has to have surgery.
“The doctors will decide in the next few days.”
According to Autosport, the doctor Ricciardo will see is renowned MotoGP surgeon Dr. Mir.
As for when fans, and AlphaTauri, can expect Ricciardo back in the car, the 67-year-old doubts it will take the six weeks “normal” people would require to recover from such an injury.
“Normal recovery for a normal person is up to six weeks, but he is a Formula 1 driver, and I hope this process will be shortened because we would like to have him in the car,” he said.
“Nevertheless, it has happened.”
Speaking about the accident on Friday evening, Ricciardo called it “really unfortunate and frustrating” but it was “either hit him [Piastri] or the wall” and he had little time to make that choice.

Franz Tost called it a ‘strange’ accident
Tost labelled it a “strange accident” with Ricciardo having very little time to react.
“It was a strange accident because he couldn’t do anything. Piastri was in front, went into the tyre wall and Daniel was just behind him, he couldn’t react and crashed,” he said.
“I told him that we are sorry from the team side and that he did a fantastic job, he could have been in the top 10.
“I told him that he will be in the car as soon as the injury is better and he can drive the car.
“He shouldn’t take it too seriously as something worse could have happened, but that is life. We are looking forward to when he is back.”
The team boss revealed Ricciardo was in good spirits despite being in “a lot of pain”.
“He smiled a bit, he is in quite a good mood,” he added, “although he is in a lot of pain because it is quite a serious injury.
“I hope that he can sleep well and he will fly to see another doctor to get another analysis [of the injury] before they decide what to do.”
Red Bull and AlphaTauri reserve driverLiam Lawson will replace Ricciardofor the remainder of the Dutch GP weekend.
